Newborns | How to Prepare
Congratulations on your sweet little baby! I am so honored you chose me to capture this special time!
I photograph newborns in the comfort of your own home. Don’t worry if your nursery isn’t finished or if your house is a little messy. I can always find a good window and everything else will be fine!
I will bring a variety of wraps, blankets, headbands, and props for us to use during your session.
Please have your baby dressed in an easily removable outfit or wrapped in a blanket with diaper on. Before your session time, keep your baby awake for 1-1.5 hours to ensure that he/she is nice and sleepy during our session. I know this can be hard with a newborn, so I recommend lots of stimulation- a bath is often helpful. I recommend feeding the baby about 45 minutes prior to the session start time for a breastfed baby and 20-30 minutes prior for a formula fed baby. If your baby needs to eat, don’t worry, it’s totally fine for us to stop for a little feeding break.
It’s also a good idea to have your home a couple degrees warmer than usual so that everything is nice and cozy for the baby.
